Activities

For the superactive there are plenty of activities nearby. A kilometer up the road is Saddle Creek Ranch. Mike and Chyenoa offer excellent Western style horseriding. Here they are on the beautiful Goldie and Gypsey.

No, we do not have any  lions on the farm. They were shot out in the Valley over a hundred and fifty years ago. This kitty lives in the Kruger Park. But if you want to see the real thing there are excellent game drives to view the Big 5 at Plumari a few kilometers down the road.

Shelter Rock offers walking and hiking trails on the beautiful Magaliesberg Mountain. To limit damage to the environment the groups are kept small.  To make the trails accessible to all they have the only via ferrata in South Africa. (Wikipedia tells us a via ferrata (Italian for "iron road")

is a mountain route which is equipped with fixed cablesstemples, ladders, and bridges. The use of these allows otherwise isolated routes to be joined to create longer routes which are accessible to people with a wide range of climbing abilities. Walkers and climbers can follow via ferratas without needing to use their own ropes and belays, and without the risks associated with unprotected scrambling and climbing. Phone Corry or Johan on 082-340-7378 for bookings.

Ten minutes away  In the Gorge Adventures  offer quad bikes for hire with a wonderful scenic ride in the mountains.

Abseiling is available from Outsidedge.  Phone: 073-316-3446.

Also for the adventurous is the Magaliesberg Canopy Tour. See the scenery from the cliffs.

For a more restful activity a visit to the van Gaalen cheese factory is 15 minutes away.

If you wish to see the Valley as God did take a balloon flight with Bill Harrop's aerial safaris. They're 10 minutes up the road.

Further afield are the Lion and Rhino Park, the

de Wildt Cheetah and Wildlife Trust and the

Elephant Sanctuary.  Newly opened to the public is the Monkey Sanctuary where bushbabies, lemurs and even a spider monkey can be seen.

For those who wish to see where their ancestors lived Maropeng is just over the hill.

At Hartebeespoort Dam curios can be bought at the Chameleon Village.

For an even wider spectrum of activities in the greater Magaliesberg visit Unwind for details.

Many of our guests just want to chill out in the country.  The farm has about four kilometers of fence line and lots of roads and trails for those who want to walk and explore. Or talk to the birds.  The river trail is about a kilometer long. See The Gallery for pics.

We do have a river camp for kids that want to sleep in a tent. Adults like the comfort of the farmhouse and the kids enjoy an outdoor adventure in safety. The river does offer fishing

 for fun.
